First hike of 2012
Today I headed to Santiago Peak (5600ft) as part of my monthly training. I started at 7am and it took me exactly 3 hours to get to the summit. I felt very comfortable hiking Holy Jim Trail today after having worked out all week at the gym plus having lived in Bogota for three months at 8500ft above sea level.
Weather was perfect. It was a bit chilly in the morning w temps in the low 50s but as I climbed up the sky cleared up n it became quite warm at the mid point and later in the hike.
For some odd reason ENDOMONDO did not register the last 40min of my hike on my way up. I guess it had to do w my phone’s lack of coverage over 4860ft. I am thinkin bout gettin a gps device to avoid all this hassle w/ my phone’s battery and network issues.
Next hike will be in San Bernardino late in Feb or March if weather permits.
